Birthday Party Decoration: Balloon, Theme & Stage Décor
Kauvery Events is a Jammu-based decoration team, working since 1998, that does birthday party decorations for children and adults, at home or at whichever venue you’ve booked, with props made in our own workshop. For an average party, the team is usually in and out within an hour or two.
Some days it’s just a balloon wall behind the cake in someone’s drawing room. Other days it’s a lawn function for 200 people with a proper stage and lighting. Most families simply send us a WhatsApp message and a photo of the room, and we plan it with them.

1st Birthday Decorations
Normally a cake table, a photo wall and the baby’s name written large. Small items are kept up and away, where a crawling child can’t reach them.
Birthday Stage Decoration
A big lawn or hall can look empty without one main spot. We build a raised stage with a backdrop, lights and a few chairs, and guests naturally gather there.
60th Birthday Decorations
Also for 50th and 75th birthdays. A wall of old family photographs is a common request. We also handle milestone anniversary décor.

Our team sets up butterfly, unicorn and jungle themes for kids more than any others. Teenagers nearly always ask for neon. With adults, it’s mostly gold and black, or flowers.

Butterfly
With butterfly birthday decorations we usually go for soft pink, lilac and mint. The paper butterflies are stuck on in layers, so the backdrop has some depth to it. This one looks best at a day party.

Unicorn
Pastel rainbow shades, some clouds and stars, and a little gold foil here and there. Among young girls it’s easily the top request.

Jungle
Green and gold balloons, garlands of leaves, and lions and giraffes cut out of board. If you have a garden or lawn, this theme works really well there.

Neon
UV balloons, glow lights and a neon sign with the birthday name on it. After the guests come in we turn off the main lights, so keep this for an evening party.

Gold and Black
Chrome balloons, a sequin wall and warm fairy lights. For a 30th or 40th, when families can’t decide, this is what we usually suggest.

Floral
Flowers around the cake table and the backdrop, fresh or artificial as you like. A common pick for grandparents’ birthdays. We also make fresh flower jaimalas and car décor.
Tip: pastel colours look lovely during the day, but in the evening, metallic balloons and warm lights give you much better pictures.

How much does birthday decoration cost?
It depends on the setup. A balloon backdrop with a banner is our simplest option, and the cost goes up if the room is bigger, the theme is detailed, or you add flowers, lights or a stage. We send you an item-wise quote before booking, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.
Do you decorate birthdays at home or only at venues?
We do both, and a good part of our work is actually home parties, in drawing rooms, terraces, balconies and gardens. We also decorate restaurants, lawns, halls and hotels. At home we use only tape and hooks that peel off cleanly, so the paint isn’t damaged.
How long does birthday setup take?
Which birthday themes are most popular?
For children, butterfly, unicorn and jungle are the most popular, and that hardly changes from year to year. Teenagers mostly choose neon. Adults generally go for gold and black or florals. If you’d like something different, tell us a hobby or a favourite colour and we’ll design a theme around it.
In most cases it takes one to two hours. A large theme or a stage needs more time, around three to four hours. We plan according to when your guests will arrive, so the setup is finished and our team has left before anyone comes in.
Can you set up a surprise birthday decoration?
Are balloons safe for small children?
Yes, if they’re placed carefully. When there are babies or toddlers at the party, we tie balloons up high, keep small loose pieces off the floor and use props with rounded edges. During cleanup we pick up every balloon, burst ones as well.
Yes, we get this request quite often. Tell us the time when the birthday person will be out of the house and we’ll finish within it. Someone just needs to be at home to let our team in, and then not give anything away.
How early should we book birthday decoration?
For most parties, booking a week or two ahead is enough. Weekends and the festive season fill up fast, and stages need more preparation, so try to book three or four weeks early for those. Even at the last minute, do message us, since a team is often free.
