Mandap & Stage Decoration for Weddings, Receptions & Engagements

Kauvery Decorators has been putting up mandaps and stages in Jammu since 1998, from a sagai on a terrace or a pooja stage in a drawing room to big hall weddings with carved pillars and flowers climbing up to the canopy. Every frame comes out of our own workshop, cut by our karigars to the size of your venue.

Just WhatsApp us the date and the venue. We’ll send a design back, with a quote where every item has its own price. If your date falls between November and February, message us early: that’s peak season here.

Mandap vs Stage Decoration: What’s the Difference?

Most weddings need both. The pheras and the havan happen under the mandap. The stage is where the varmala happens and the rings get exchanged, and later, at the reception, it’s where every uncle and aunty comes up for a photo.

Mandap

Used for

Pheras and wedding rituals

Ceremonies

Wedding

Structure

Four pillars, a canopy, room for the havan kund

Key planning point

Space for the couple, pandit and parents, plus fire safety

Stage

Used for

Varmala, ring exchange, photos with guests

Ceremonies

Reception, engagement, jaimala, haldi

Structure

Raised platform, backdrop, couple seating

Key planning point

Visibility from the back rows and comfortable seating

We usually dress both in the same flowers, so in the album the mandap and the stage end up looking like one set.

Our Mandap & Stage Decoration Services

Royal wedding stage with draped canopy and candles

Wedding Stage Decoration

Ask any family which photo ends up framed, and it’s usually the varmala one. We go by the hall’s measurements and keep the stage wide enough for both families to fit in the shot. See our full wedding decoration.

Reception Stage Decoration

A couple can be on the reception stage for three hours or more. We sort out a proper sofa and good lighting for the photographer first, then design the flower wall around those.

Mandap Decoration

Our first question is usually about direction, since a lot of pandits want the mandap facing a certain way. Then it can go floral, royal, pastel, or small enough for a wedding at home. More on mandap and stage decoration in Jammu.

Engagement Stage Decoration

We’ve set up ring ceremonies for twenty people at home and for a few hundred in a hall. The stage gets worked out from your guest list and room size. Need help with the whole day? Try our event planning services.

What We Check Before Building Your Mandap or Stage?

A mandap can look perfect in a photo and still feel cramped on the day. So before we build, we check whether the couple, the pandit and both sets of parents can actually sit inside it together. If they can’t, the frame gets wider. We ask where your pandit wants it to face, and make sure guests in the back rows can see the pheras. Usually a slightly raised platform is enough for that.

The havan kund needs care. We keep drapes well above the fire and use flame-safe material anywhere near it. Halls often have another function the night before, so we talk to the manager about timings in advance. Jammu evenings in December get cold quickly, so for a lawn wedding we cover the mandap and leave room for heaters. There are always chairs nearby for elders who can’t sit on the floor for two hours.

Simple & Floral Stage Decoration Designs

A lot of functions don’t need anything grand.

01

Simple Stage Decoration

Drapes on a frame, two flower stands, a sofa. That’s often enough for a home pooja or a small sagai, and it fits into a living room without anyone moving the furniture. We also do pooja and mandir decoration.

02

Simple Flower Stage Decoration

Genda and rose strings tied in rows across the frame, with some petals at the front. Haldi is nearly always yellow (see our haldi and mehndi setups). For a sagai, families tend to pick pink and white. It gives plenty of colour for the money, since there’s no heavy structure to pay for.

03

Background Decoration for Stage

The backdrop is in almost every stage photo. We do flower walls, white jaali panels with marigold strings, or draped fabric with the couple’s names on it.

04

Balloon Stage Decoration

Balloon arches and garlands in two or three colours, sometimes with a few real roses mixed in. For engagements at home, it’s one of the things families ask us for most. See our balloon and birthday décor.

Stage Decoration Materials: Flowers, Cloth, Curtains & Banana Leaf

Fresh or artificial? That’s usually the first thing people want to know, so it’s at the top.

Fresh Flowers

Looks: Full, fragrant, best in photos

Lasts: The event day

Budget: Higher

Artificial Flowers

Looks: Neat and even

Lasts: Holds through two-day functions

Budget: Lower

Cloth

Looks: Soft folds, clean finish

Lasts: Reusable

Budget: Budget friendly

Curtains

Looks: Layered backdrop with depth

Lasts: Reusable

Budget: Budget friendly

Banana Leaf

Looks: Traditional, green and natural

Lasts: The event day

Budget: Budget to mid

Readymade Stage

Looks: Ready frame, quick to set up

Lasts: Reusable

Budget: Budget to mid

Fresh flowers are lovely on the day but start drooping by the next morning. For a two-day function, artificial flowers, or fresh mixed with artificial, last much better. For a traditional backdrop, banana leaf with marigolds works out cheaper than a full flower wall and still looks rich.

How Much Does Mandap and Stage Decoration Cost?

You won’t find a price list on this page. A small stage at home and a royal mandap in a big hall use very different amounts of flowers, frame and labour. With each design we send a quote where every item is priced separately, so if the total goes over budget, you can see which line to cut.

Simple

Budget friendly

Cloth backdrop, artificial blooms, soft lighting

Floral

Mid range

Fresh and mixed flowers, floral backdrop, couple seating

Premium

Higher

Custom frame, fresh flower wall, layered lighting

Size makes the biggest difference to the price. After that it’s the flowers: fresh costs more than artificial, and gets pricier still between November and February and around auspicious dates. There’s no travel charge inside Jammu city; for other cities, we add transport and crew stay as separate lines. On a tight budget, cloth, curtains or mixed flowers save quite a lot, and in the photos hardly anyone can tell.

Royal

Top range

Carved structure, heavy florals, full venue styling

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a mandap and a stage?

The mandap is for the wedding rituals, meaning the pheras and the havan. The stage is for everything else: the varmala, the ring ceremony and the reception photos.

How much does mandap and stage decoration cost?

It depends on size, flowers, venue and season. WhatsApp us your date and venue with a reference photo, and we’ll send a free design and an itemised quote.

Which stage materials are best: flowers, cloth or balloons?

Fresh flowers photograph best. Cloth and curtains are cheaper, while balloons suit engagements at home. A lot of families mix two of them.

Can you set up a stage at home?

Yes, often. Home poojas and sagais are a big part of what we do. We’ll measure your terrace or courtyard first, because those spaces are usually smaller than people think.

How long does stage decoration setup take?

That depends on the design and on when the venue lets us in. We confirm timings with the hall in advance and get there early.

Do you use fresh or artificial flowers?

Fresh, from the mandi on the morning of the event. If it’s a two-day function or the budget is tight, we can use artificial or mixed flowers instead.

How early should I book mandap and stage decoration?

As soon as you have a date. November to February fills up quickly here. A small advance confirms it.

Do you charge extra for decoration outside Jammu?

Not inside Jammu city. Akhnoor, Samba and Katra can carry a small charge. For other cities, transport and crew stay are listed separately in the quote.
